When it comes to legalized weed, clearly some places are just cooler than others; More liberal places got on board pretty quickly with medical marijuana years ago, & as you suppose it has been growing rather slowly from that point.
To me it was never made to be a immense deal.
I always lived in a small, rural town, a close knit community that was descended at first from a former commune of pot farming hippies. They weren’t cultists, just wise draft dodgers who set up shop here & started growing crops & raising families, and the whole thing is pretty cool, right? Now that medicinal cannabis is legal, & there are hundreds of local dispensaries in the state, our little neighborhood is booming. Every one of us has easily been cultivating strains of cannabis for decades, across human generations, illegally, so not only do both of us have a immense volume of marijuana, but both of us have the highest quality weed as well. The neighborhood itself is booming, as various odd weed farms have needed to expand in order to meet the new increased demand from all sorts of national cannabis dispensaries who want to stock the best strains. The best area for me, I think, is that our community stays committed to each other, & the many cannabis operations work together & not in direct competition. There is plenty of work, & cash, & cannabis for all, so that easily makes for a peaceful & prosperous town! Now that no one has to worry so much about getting busted for growing marijuana, the crops tripled in size with no signs of slowing down in sight. The entire future is looking pretty bright for the little neighborhood that cannabis built.
