My edible candy did not taste like the dispensary

For the past six months, I have been purchasing edible marijuana treats from the dispensary.

The price I am paying is really starting to get out of hand.

I used to spend about 25 or $30 every week on edible marijuana treats. Last month, I spent almost $300. My boyfriend and I agreed that it was time to start making our own edible candy at home. We went online and purchased several different candy flavor extracts in grape, raspberry, watermelon, and strawberry. I found a recipe on the internet for hard candy. It seemed like an easy recipe to follow. I grabbed all of the necessary ingredients from the store. I needed corn syrup, sugar, water, food coloring, flavoring, and some type of marijuana product. I decided to use distillate oil, because it is already decarboxylated. The distillate oil was a bit pricey, but at 94% THC, I didn’t mind spending a few more dollars for a quality cannabis product. I read through the instructions one or two times before I started heating the sugar on the top of the stove. Unfortunately, I didn’t realize that I would need a thermometer to measure the temperature of the sugar. I had no way of telling when the sugar was hot enough to get hard. I messed up three different batches before I finally gave up and went to the store to get the right equipment for the job. It was much easier to make hard candy when I had a thermometer. The fourth batch turned out perfectly, but it still didn’t taste like the candy from the marijuana dispensary.
