My employer cut my hours at my task and I suppose that medical marijuana is the actual reason for that.
There was a rumor going around the office that I was using recreational drugs.
The boss had me see him in his office and started asking some pressing questions… I didn’t want to lie, so I just let the guy know that I was in fact a medical marijuana user. I had a legal prescription from my health professional and I never used medical marijuana while I was at work! My boss seemed relatively frustrated when I told him the truth. I truthfully did not suppose that he could punish me since the health professional prescribed medical marijuana to me. Well, as it turns out, my boss can do anything that he wants, however roughly 3 weeks after the incident occurred, my working hours at the office were essentially cut in half. I was a full-time employee for about 3 years, working 40 hours regularly every week. After the incident with medical marijuana, my working hours were cut down to 24 hours per week. I no longer qualify for any full-time benefits, such as Vision, Dental, PTO, or holiday pay. When I observed the schedule, I was pretty upset about this. I made an appointment to speak with my boss. The guy told me that he had to cut back on various employees and I was just totally unfortunate. There’s absolutely no way that can be the actual truth. I spoke with a lawyer and I spoke with the human resources department. There isn’t anything that can be done unless I have the ability to supply actual proof that marijuana was the reason for the cut back.
