Chronic pain after cheerleading

I did cheerleading in college and just loved it.

However, there is a lot of pressure to have more difficult tumbling and do riskier stunts.

I pushed my body past its breaking point a lot. I tried a standing tuck before I was ready. I ended up freaking out mid air and landing on my knees. My knees never really recovered from that hit. I did a tuck toss as one of the mounts in the routine. The girls tossed me too far forward and didn’t catch me. I ended up just splatting on the mat. It damaged my shoulders really badly. I pushed through the pain and did year after year of routines. By the time I graduated I was in a lot of pain everyday. It was difficult to get out of bed, work out and go to work. I tried a chiropractor, massage therapist and taking pain pills. Nothing really did the trick. Stretching before and after bed helped somewhat, but my mobility wasn’t there. A friend of mine recommended that I try medical cannabis. Getting a medical marijuana card for my chronic pain was so easy. The budtenders at the weed shop near me were great about getting the right strain for me. I smoke cannabis every morning and night. It helps keep down inflammation and I hardly notice the pain. Apparently I will eventually be good enough to not need medical weed. Right now I am just so thankful that I have it. I am able to sleep, drive a car and sit at a desk for more than an hour.
