Friday night was a very busy night at work.
Most Friday nights are busy at the recreational cannabis dispensary, but there was a concert and a sporting event on the same evening.
Our recreational cannabis shop was still open when the concert ended and we had a flood of people come through the doors 15 minutes before the cannabis shop was supposed to close. I was still fulfilling orders at ten. It was also a very busy night for deliveries. At 9 p.m., we have the last deliveries leave the shop. Three drivers were still working at the end of the night. One of my drivers left with five different deliveries. He did not return until almost midnight, two hours after the cannabis shop closed. I had to wait, because I was the manager on duty. One of the reasons why the driver took so long to return to the store was due to a flat tire. After leaving the third delivery address, the driver had a flat tire and had to pull over on the side of the road to put a spare on the car. This took about 45 minutes and the final two deliveries were way out in the valley. Most of the time it doesn’t take two hours for the driver to finish all of the deliveries, but this was an extraordinary circumstance. I waited and waited and found ways to stay busy. I cleaned all of the edible candy racks and reorganized the vape pen carts in the back of the store. The driver was very unhappy and tired by the time he came back to the store.
