When I was in high school, I used cannabis with my friends to have a fun night.
It was hard to find, but every once in a while we got our hands on a bag of pot.
We didn’t use marijuana for medical reasons and we never thought of it as medicine. If we had a bag of weed, we were going to smoke it and spend the night laughing or having fun. I always believed marijuana was a fun recreational drug. When the doctor suggested trying medical pot for my anxiety and PTSD, I didn’t take the suggestion seriously at first. I continued to deal with the mental and physical problems for another year. It was difficult to deal with the PTSD symptoms which caused nightmares, paranoia, and anxiety and panic attacks. The second time the doctor mentioned medical marijuana, I decided to get more information. The doctor sent me to an evening class at a medical marijuana treatment center. I got educated on the benefits of using cannabis. The doctors evaluated me and helped me apply for a medical card. It’s been 6 months since I started using medical marijuana. At first, I absolutely felt high and giggly from the plant. Now I’ve been using cannabis for 6 months and I no longer feel that effect. When I use cannabis, I get the medical benefits from the plant like pain relief and calmness. My anxiety and PTSD symptoms are better than they have been in the past and my sleep has been improved as well. I’m thankful the doctor mentioned cannabis on more than one occasion.
