It doesn’t make a lot of sense to drug test employees in a state that allows recreational and medical marijuana, but there are still companies that require pre-employment drug testing.
I smoked pot the whole time I was in college.
It was the thing to do with your friends and the cool thing to do at parties. Pot was legal and we smoked a lot. My friends and I went to the cannabis dispensary every weekend to pick out new cannabis products. I tried edibles like pot brownies, space cake and cookies. I tried gummy coins, mints, and even cannabis infused chocolate. I loved the feeling of being high and I knew it was going to be difficult to stop smoking marijuana for a job. I also knew it was going to be a requirement. As soon as I finished college and started looking for jobs, I stopped smoking marijuana. It was extremely difficult and I struggled with mental health issues when I stopped. I was cranky and irritable and I didn’t want to leave the house. I couldn’t even visit the dispensary with my friends, because I was tempted to buy marijuana products. The first time I got a job after college, I had to stop smoking marijuana for 3 months. After I got a job working at the bank, I went right back to smoking marijuana every single day. I’ve been working at the bank for 12 years and I have never been asked to take another drug test. They still require the drug test for pre-employment even though marijuana is legal everywhere in the state.
